Facilities & Laboratories

Microbiology Laboratories

Researchers use these spaces to conduct basic and applied research in Molecular Environmental Biology, Microbial Genetics, Bioremediation, Biochemistry/Physiology, and Biosensors development. The lab spaces are certified for BioSafety Level 2 (BSL2) work and are equipped for the isolation and culture of fungi, microalgae and diatoms, bacteriophage, and aerobic and anaerobic bacteria over a wide range of environmental conditions. Access to pristine seawater and groundwater sources enables isolation and cultivation over a range of salinities.
