Radiation Measurements Support Laboratory (RMSL)

The RMSL in Trailer 4 of the 318 Building supports non-routine radiation measurements in the workplace. Typical measurements include:

  • Neutron measurements to verify the response of personnel neutron dosimeters, which have been performed at the Hanford Site's Plutonium Finishing Plant facility and similar facilities at other U.S. Department of Energy and commercial sites.
  • Gamma spectrometry measurements, such as developing a submersible gamma spectrometer to characterize radioactive contamination in the walls of the Hanford Site K-Basins.
  • A neutron measurement pod to characterize residual transuranic contamination in the hot cells of the Hanford Site 327 Building.
