PNNL's Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) market sector implements and stewards the laboratory's strategy to address two major national goals—reducing petroleum consumption and enabling efficient use of primary energy resources. In support of these goals, PNNL delivers critical science and technology, and supporting analysis and policy recommendations to
- advance fuel-efficient transportation, including vehicle electrification and hydrogen technology
- develop processes to convert biomass to fuels and chemicals
- improve the energy-efficiency of residential and commercial buildings, and
- enable the effective use of renewable resources.
