Biography

Dr. Radha Kishan Motkuri is a senior research scientist with the PNNL Energy Processes and Materials Division. He serves as principal investigator (PI), Co-PI, and project manager in a diverse range of projects in material chemistry and chemical security. He has over 19 years of experience in inorganic and materials chemistry with an emphasis on nanoporous materials such as zeolites, MOFs, COFs, mesoporous silica and porous carbon materials for potential applications including sorption, separation, catalysis, and sensing. Few examples including adsorption cooling/refrigeration, dehumudification, CO2 capture, water cleaning, PFAS capture, sensing and remediation, Xenon/Krypton separation, polar/non-polar solvents, etc., Recent success of his projects including a series of cooling technology development projects and PNNL’s 2017 R&D 100 Award-winning thermal vapor-compression cooling technology. Also, a new capability development for novel, continuous and bulk production of MOFs and their composites (US patent filed and licensed). His work supports the DOE Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), DOE-EM, ARPA-E, Department of State’s Chemical Security Program (CSP), and PNNL’s LDRD programs. Dr. Motkuri has published more than ~95 peer-reviewed publications (including 12 journal cover articles) with an h-index of 28. Also, Dr. Motkuri has 18 international patents while NINE of them are USA patents/applications. Dr. Motkuri organized or co-organized several sessions at American Chemical Society (ACS) meetings, including Functional Porous Materials for Sustainable Energy (253rd ACS National Meeting); Porous Materials for Energy Conversion (246th ACS National Meeting), Carbon Dioxide Management (248th and 257th ACS National Meeting). He is an active reviewer for many ACS, Wiley, Springer, elsevier journals and grants like DOE-BES, ACS-PRF. He is a editorial board member for the journals Inorganic Chemistry (American Chemical Society); Inorganica Chimica Acta (Elsevier) and Scientific Reports (Nature).
