Mary Ann Parkhurst to Address Congressional Committee on Gulf War Illnesses

April 2005
On April 7, 2005, ETD's Mary Ann Parkhurst will present information on the characterization of depleted uranium aerosols formed from impact with armored vehicles and their associated potential health impacts to the Research Advisory Committee on Gulf War Veterans' Illnesses, a U.S. congressional committee. These aerosols are produced when a depleted uranium penetrator pierces an armored vehicle or when the depleted uranium armor protecting a vehicle is perforated. Mary Ann was requested to provide information because of her role as project manager on the 5-year Capstone study, funded by the Department of Defense.
