Strom Helps Security Experts Understand Technologies to Identify Weapons, Contraband

September 2004
ETD’s Dan Strom taught health physicists, homeland security experts, and military personnel about technologies that could help identify weapons and contrabands smuggled into the country. Taught as part of the Health Physics Society’s 2004 summer school, Dan focused on nonionizing and ionizing radiological techniques to identify and visualize explosives, weapons, and drugs. In addition, Dan and American Science and Engineering’s Joseph Callerame wrote a 19-page chapter describing the technologies in more detail and discussing future technologies that law enforcement agents might need. The chapter appears in Public Protection from Nuclear, Chemical, and Biological Terrorism, published by Medical Physics Publishing. Congratulations, Dan!
