George Last Received Fitzner/Eberhardt Award

April 2007
Congratulations to ETD's George Last on winning the 2007 Fitzner/Eberhardt Laboratory Director's Award for Outstanding Contributions to Science and Engineering Education for making subsurface science come alive for hundreds of educators and future scientists. Throughout his career at PNNL, George has contributed to the success of the Laboratory’s science education programs. He has worked to promote science literacy, sharing his knowledge, skills and enthusiasm with students and teachers from middle school, high school and college. George donates his time to the Ice Age Floods Institute and provides lectures and conducts field trips for students and the general public. In the Laboratory, George has conducted applied geology and hydrogeologic research primarily related to hazardous waste site characterization and remediation, for 30 years. He has also served as both a line manager for a small technical group of geologists and as project manager of large inter-disciplinary projects. George, thank you for your support to ETD and the next generation of environmental scientists!
