John Abrefah Speaks to the Future of Nuclear Energy Systems Modeling

May 2007
ETD's John Abrefah delivered an insightful lecture about nuclear energy systems modeling and simulation for Pacific Northwest National Laboratory's Future of Computing Lecture Series. For nearly 40 staff, John spoke about the Global Nuclear Energy Partnership's task to develop a framework to model for a closed nuclear fuel cycle that maximizes security, safety and fuel reusability. The model involves simulating uranium in a reactor being refined, irradiated then recovered for re-use as a fuel. John's expertise in nuclear materials and engineering made him an excellent choice as a speaker. The Future of Computing Lecture Series showcases PNNL's computational capabilities and their applications across the directorates in a monthly forum. Congratulations, John, on a presentation well done!
