2009 Science Education Advocate Award

June 2009
EED’s Kim Fowler was named Washington State LASER Advocate "an award that recognized two individuals who have gone above and beyond by promoting the importance of science education among the general public and the education system. As a passionate proponent for science education and reform, Kim has developed a set of energy, environment, and sustainable related activities, which she brings to classrooms ranging from third grade through high school. These activities were developed by Kim after learning about the value of inquiry-centered lessons; they are intended to be linked to the existing classroom curriculum. Kim has been instrumental in helping others find their niche in science and mathematics, encouraging young women and minorities to pursue technical career paths. Her work in science education has yielded prestigious honors.
