Gary Yang Awarded Chair of the Energy Storage and Conversion Committee

Gary Yang was recently elected Chair of The Energy Storage and Conversion Committee, associated with The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS). The committee’s mission is to promote and disseminate advanced materials and scientific/technological advancement in energy conversion and storage technologies that may cover all types of fuel cells, hydrogen storage, solar/wind power, batteries, etc. As the Chair, Yang will be responsible for calling meetings and coordinating symposiums on energy storage and conversion related topics for TMS. In addition, he will serve as an advisor to the TMS monthly publication Journal of Minerals, Metals & Materials Society.  At Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, Yang is currently leading efforts in developing advanced electrical energy storage technologies for integration of renewable energy, and electrical grid applications. In addition, Yang has been a technical lead or a major contributor in development of interconnection and interfaces in solid oxide fuel cells, and understanding hydrogen storage mechanisms in nano-light metal hydrides.
