Staff Accomplishments

John Holladay

September 2011
PNNL Inventor of the Year John has been named PNNL's Inventor of the Year for FY10. The honor, which was presented earlier this year at the annual Recognition & Rewards banquet, recognizes staff for innovation that has resulted in the creation of intellectual property or the potential to create intellectual property, typically in the previous two fiscal years. During FY10 alone, John received six patents in areas related to conversion of renewable feedstock to value-added chemicals. Several of his most recent patents were for work to convert sorbitol—available from sugars—to isosorbide for creation of novel polymers that are sought after for hot-fill beverage containers and other uses. Congratulations!
