ALARA-VPP Award recipients for K-Basin sludge project
New approaches for characterizing Hanford's K-Basin sludge have reduced risks, dose to staff, and costs—and recently earned EED's
Sandra and
Rick the PNNL ALARA-VPP Award. The two shared the award with
Terry Milham, Operational Systems Directorate, for good ideas they came up with to enhance the characterization project.
The As Low As Reasonably Achievable (ALARA) program at PNNL focuses on managing and controlling radiation exposure to workers and the public. ALARA awards recognize exceptional accomplishments in the implementation of the ALARA philosophy. VPP is the Voluntary Protection Program, which is committed to maturing Laboratory safety and health performance.
