PNNL Provides Guidance to the Department of Energy and Residential Market Leaders

May 2014

DOE’s Building America (BA) Program has successfully completed a Phase 3 goal, to reach cost-effective savings of over 30% of the Building America Benchmark (roughly consistent with the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC) 2009, and 2010 appliance standards and Miscellaneous Electric Loads (MELs)). To show achievement of this programmatic accomplishment, PNNL has developed an Optimized Solution package for each of the five BA climate regions.

These Optimized Solutions provide the residential industry with examples and guidance for how to affordably reach such high levels of energy savings. To help make this information more easily accessible to the builder community, PNNL energy efficiency analyst Chrissi Antonopoulos, energy efficiency engineers, Cheryn Metzger and Mike Madison developed a dynamic platform to showcase these packages as part of the Building America Solution Center. View the website and use the interactive map to find optimized solutions around the U.S.
