PNNL's Imhoff Invited to Present at National Academies Roundtable

Carl Imhoff, program manager for Electricity Infrastructure research at PNNL, was invited to present and participate in the Feb. 10 panel discussion on "Transitioning to the Grid of the Future" at the National Academies' Government-University-Industry Research Roundtable (GUIRR). Topics included cybersecurity, privacy and security concerns, opportunities for public-private partnerships, training and workforce development needs, and the role of state governments.

GUIRR, a joint body of the National Academy of Sciences, National Academy of Engineering, and Institute of Medicine, has spent the last 30 years focusing on the health of the research enterprise within the United States. It serves as a platform for leaders in science and technology to take action on scientific matters of a national and global importance. Imhoff, recently appointed as Chair of the Laboratory Integrator Team for DOE's Grid Modernization Laboratory Consortium, is widely recognized as a future grid leader. His roundtable participation included a presentation that described his work at the Lab, and as a consortium chair.

The roundtable took place at the historic National Academy of Sciences building in Washington D.C. Over 70 leaders from government, academia, and business participated. To learn more about GUIRR, visit the National Academies website.
