John Holladay named Distinguished Inventor of Battelle

May 2015

Energy and Environment's John Holladay was named a Distinguished Inventor of Battelle for Fiscal Year 2014.  Holladay has been named on 14 or more U.S. patents during his 14 years at PNNL.  His patents are in the area of catalysis/chemistry and are related to bio-based processing. In addition, Holladay was named PNNL Inventor of the Year in 2010.

Holladay joined PNNL in 2001 and manages the Biomass Sector in the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Sector.  He holds a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry and a B.S. in Chemistry.  Holladay oversees PNNL's $15 million per year research portfolio on biofuels, products, and energy.  The portfolio also includes the sustainable utilization of terrestrial biomass and marine systems (micro and macro algae) to fuels and chemicals via chemical and biological catalysis.
