Systematic Assessment of Bias and Uncertainty in Recorded Dose

The objective of this study was to understand and document sources of biases and uncertainties integral to estimating radiological doses to workers. In particular, we evaluated significant sources of bias and uncertainty for penetrating whole body dose from higher energy photon radiation. The study contributed to the best use of available epidemiologic data in assessing risks from exposure to low-level radiation.

The information developed in this research done in the early 1990s has been widely used in later retrospective analyses of worker dose and uncertainties.
