Development and Testing of Pit Disassembly and Conversion Facility Processes
This project is performing small-scale testing to support process development and optimization in the Pit Disassembly and Conversion Facility (PDCF). The Pit Disassembly and Conversion Facility will be a National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) facility to dismantle nuclear weapons pits that are excess to the national security needs. The prime focus of this work is the development of processes to remove tritium contamination from plutonium and address design issues in the hydride dehydride process.
