Records Management

PNNL manages the radiological exposure records for all individuals who worked at the Hanford Site since 1945. As a result of the historical significance of the radiation protection records that have been generated over the last 60 years at Hanford, PNNL's radiation record management capabilities are the benchmark for the U.S. Department of Energy complex. Records are currently maintained in a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) certified electronic records management system that complies with DOE requirements, ISO 14001 and National Archives standards for records storage. The records system is supported by a state-of-the-art database available to Hanford Site users to produce a wide variety of exposure, tracking and As Low As Reasonably Achievable management tools. Records are maintained in compliance with the Privacy Act of 1974 and Freedom of Information Act requirements. Reports of radiation exposure are routinely generated for DOE, management, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health, and current and former employees.
