Research Capabilities
NEPA Analysis
PNNL has provided support to a variety of clients related to the environmental reviews to support the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The Ecology group has been an integral part of these reviews and has provided support specifically to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) for the past 15 years on relicensing their current fleet of U.S. power reactors, as well as reviewing four early site permits for approval of new sites and applications for 18 new combined construction/operating licenses. PNNL has lead or is currently leading the review activities for 14 of these application reviews. The Ecology group provides expertise to the US NRC in areas related to terrestrial and aquatic ecology.
