Environmental Monitoring

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory monitors and studies the air, vegetation, water, sediments, and wildlife to ensure appropriate protection and conservation measures are in place. We also study the fate and transport of contaminants in the environment. And lastly, we manage the Surface Environmental Surveillance Program (SESP) that conducts sample collection and the Community Operated Environmental Surveillance Program that collects air samples.

Our environmental management planning supports the protection and conservation of the Department of Energy's clean-up agenda.

The Surface Environmental Surveillance Project (SESP) is a multimedia environmental monitoring effort conducted at the U.S. Department of Energy's Hanford Site.
