Building resilience to climate change impacts

Sea level rise, more severe droughts, longer fire seasons—these are just a few of the impacts of our changing climate that affect buildings and infrastructure. But what practical actions can organizations take now to prepare and respond to climate impacts? Our scientists are working with building operators across the federal government to address that question.

We help agencies to understand the potential impacts, assess their vulnerabilities, and define adaptation options, so that they can continue to operate and fulfill their public missions.

As a multi-disciplinary national laboratory, we're in a unique position to draw from diverse capabilities in building systems, operations and control, climate science, and risk and decision sciences to lead site-level vulnerability assessments and develop action plans.
