Research Capabilities

Process Engineering and Development

Process engineering and development is taking science to application. Promising scientific discoveries are evaluated on the bench and pilot scales, with a focus on developing energy and material balances and process flowsheets; preliminary process economics; and equipment and systems demonstration. The team comprises a variety of technical disciplines, including process chemistry, process engineering, mechanical engineering, and design/drafting (in such areas as chemical, metallurgical, environmental and agricultural).

Glass process flow

Research Scale Melter developed for continuous feed from glass batch

Glass process flow

Large scale, container-sized, amounts of bulk vitrified glass from the In-Container Vitrification™ system at the AMEC facility

Waste Treatment Plant

The Process Engineering and Development Team worked intensely on design and operation of Pretreatment Engineering Platform in support of the Waste Treatment Plant.
