Biography

Vrushali Mendon joined PNNL in 2010 as a research engineer in the Building Energy Codes Program. Her research at PNNL focuses on residential building energy and codes. She leads PNNL's residential code development team in conducting analyses in support of DOE's goal of improving energy efficiency in residential buildings through cost-effective technologies. She has worked on the development of a number of DOE code changes for the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC), ASHRAE Standard 90.1 and Standard 90.2. She also led the technical analyses for the development of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Code. Vrushali specializes in large-scale building simulation analyses and has conducted such analyses for DOE, the U.S. Army, and the National Concrete Masonry Association Education and Research Foundation (NCMA-ERF). More recently, she is analyzing the energy and peak demand reduction potential of building energy code compliance and exploring the connection between buildings and the grid.
