Biography
Juan Gonzalez specializes in residential and commercial building energy efficiency, data analysis, and benchmarking. He received master’s degrees in Applied Physics and Renewable and Clean Energy from Christopher Newport University and the University of Dayton respectively. His graduate research involved the development of city benchmarking techniques learned while interning at the Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy.
Before joining the lab, Mr. Gonzalez worked as an energy efficiency consultant in the Washington D.C. Metro area, providing support to the EPA's ENERGY STAR New Homes Program and assisted various utility companies with demand side management. Mr. Gonzalez's work helped shape energy efficiency policy and provided a standard for county level HVAC design temperatures. Since joining PNNL in November 2015, Mr. Gonzalez has been supporting the Building Energy Asset Score team through data analysis and tool development.
