Dr. Soumya Kundu has been a Staff Research Engineer at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory since 2016. Prior to that, he was a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Information Sciences Group, with joint appointment in the Center for Nonlinear Studies, at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. Dr. Kundu received his Bachelors (in Electrical Engineering) and Masters (in Control Systems Engineering) from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur in 2009, and his Ph.D. in Control Systems (minor in Power and Energy) from the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor in 2013. Dr. Kundu is primarily interested in solving complex engineering problems by applying tools from systems theory, control and optimization. His current research focus is towards the development of an integrated and distributed systems analysis and control framework to maintain the dynamic security and operational optimality of the future electrical grid, facilitating clean energy integration (e.g. renewable generation, electric vehicles), through smart utilization of distributed resources (e.g. controllable loads, energy storage).
