Ms. Zhu is a geophysicist who joined the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in November, 2017 as a Postdoc Research Associate. Her research interest focuses on numerical modeling and inversion of geophysical data including gravity, magnetic, and electromagnetic fields. While completing her PhD, she worked on the joint inversion of multi-modal geophysical data sets for mineral prospecting. She is passionate about the application of computational mathematics in geophysics and development of open-source high performance geophysical inversion codes. Her recent project is to understand the hydro-biogeochemical process in the Columbia River by jointly inverting hydrological and geophysical data.

Research Interests

  • Joint inversion of hydrological and time-lapse electric resistivity data
  • Joint inversion of time-lapse gravity and electric resistivity data
  • Finite element modeling of electromagnetic field
  • Development of high performance geophysical modeling and inversion codes

Education and Credentials

  • Ph.D., Geophysics, University of Utah, 2017
  • M.S., Geophysics, University of Utah, 2012
  • B.S., China University of Geosciences (Beijing), 2008
