Vanshika joined the Energy Policy & Economics group at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) in 2018. Currently, she is leading the descriptive research in energy storage policy analytics, wherein her team assesses the real-world impact of changes in energy storage policy using natural design experiments. She is one of the key contributors in developing a comprehensive energy storage benefit valuation methodology at PNNL which is currently being used to inform policymakers of the benefit-generating potential of energy storage. Her on-going research evaluates the reduction in grid congestion and energy losses after addition of energy storage to the grid. This also involves measuring the potential impact of long-duration storage. She specializes in time-series and micro-economic analyses of the energy market, which includes predictive forecasting of energy demand and price. Her published work answers important energy economics questions including economic and energy impacts of energy storage technologies and policies, future energy-efficient technology adoption, localized economic impacts of climate adaptation, market impacts of potential future electric grid enabling technologies, and energy security.
