Biography
Jim Ogle is a Chief Electrical Engineer at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in the Electricity and Environment Directorate. He joined the laboratory in 2019 and has over 30 years industry experience. At the lab, Jim has contributed to research efforts primarily in support of the United States Department of Energy. He currently is leading research in advanced distribution systems operations and management, grid architecture, grid sensor technology and analytics, and grid communications analysis and planning.
Prior to joining the lab, Jim led commercial product development in the areas of power systems metering and automation, communication systems, distributed software and systems, machine learning, and cyber-security. He has held a variety of roles in several companies spanning electric utility operations at Avista Utilities and Puget Sound Energy, automated metering infrastructure and communication system development at Itron, and real-time embedded software and hardware development for cellular networks at Agilent Technologies.
