Biography

Scientist or race car driver. That's what Jerry listed as his top potential vocations in a fifth grade essay. His science path was set after earning a degree in biology, then working in environmental data collection and sensor technology. He joined the lab in 2000 after attaining an advanced degree in geography, with an emphasis in geospatial technology. Recent experience in the commercial sector provided him in-depth experience in hyperspectral analysis for vegetation dynamics, setting a course for applied research across the energy, national security and environmental domains. As a data scientist in the Ecology Group Jerry applies remote sensing expertise, advocates spatial process integration, and provides project management capabilities. By delivering science technology solutions that add value to sponsor missions, he continues to bring science, wit, and resolve to national challenges. And one day hopes to become a race car driver.
